OMC-FLASH Release 4.9.0 – New Features and Enhancements
Browse and Search Pattern History Facility
Retrieve Previous Patterns Used for Searching Data. The Search History Panel displays each of the pattern specifications available for selection, in response to either a HISTORY primary command issued on the Pattern Specification Panel, or a single ‘?’ specified as the first character of a pattern. Users can simply select a previously used pattern or a group of pattern to reuse and quickly search for data.
Jobname Selection Panel (JSP) and Data Set Index Panel (DIP) Line Command Message
Displays the Last Line Command Executed in the Message Column. OMC-FLASH now saves the ‘last command’ message, displaying that command in the message column for the user’s reference.
REXX USERLOG and System Command Functions
REXX Functions to Read and Write USERLOG and Execute MVS/JES Commands. The SYSCMD service executes an MVS/JES command and saves the command response in a REXX variable. The command response can also be added to the OMC-FLASH USERLOG. The USERLOG service is used to read and write messages to the OMC-FLASH USERLOG, as well as clear or delete all messages from the USERLOG. The USERLOG can be accessed and modified when executing in any REXX environment and when executing under OMC-FLASH foreground.
USS Facility Enhancements
Display Service Class and Retrieve USS Data from Multiple JES3 Systems. All systems or a single system for USS processes can be displayed in a JES3 SYSPLEX with the primary command SYS. For example, SYS * will display all systems; SYS G22* will display systems beginning with G22. Entering SYS with no parameter will display USS processes for just the current system.
Additional WLM and Execution Information for Jobs
Updates to JSP, USS, and Enclave Facilities. The Jobname Selection Panel and the UNIX System Services Panel now provide additional fields, including the Resource group name and Report class name associated with the address space; the subsystem name to which the Enclave belongs (if part of an Enclave); the subsystem type; whether the address space is a server; and the workload name associated with the address space. The Enclave Facility Panel now displays yes or no to indicate whether the Enclave is a server.
Increased Batch Search Pattern Length
Pattern Length Increased from 16 to 132 Characters. The SEARCH function searches job output and displays records matching the pattern specified. The maximum pattern length is now 132 characters, enabling longer patterns to be searched and returned.
Health Checker Facility Enhancements
Selection of Single System Data from all JES3 Systems. Select the system or systems for displaying health checks. The asterisk character * is used as a mask. For example, CKSYS * will display all systems; CKSYS G22* will display systems beginning with G22. Entering CKSYS, with no parameter, the HOME/ALL command option is used for selecting systems. The system mask is also accessible through the “Check Masks” option of the menu bar item “Criteria”.
Changing the SERVICE CLASS in Job Name Selection Panel (JSP)
The SERVICE CLASS can now be overwritten in JSP. The ASID is also changed during execution.
Jobname Selection Panel Filter/Mask Input Area
Optional and Customizable Mask and Filter Input Area in JSP below Command Line. The Jobname Selection Panel now provides a mask and filter input area just below the command line, enabling users to display only those jobs that meet the filter and mask criteria specified by the user. The primary command CRITERIA can be used to display or hide this new area in the JSP.
Multiple Level Server Support between Global and Local
Up and Down Level Support for JES3 Global and Local Servers. OMC-FLASH now supports execution of different versions of the OMC-FLASH server within the same JES3 SYSPLEX.
New User/Optional fields for Data Set Index Panel
Up to 20 User / Optional Fields Can be Specified for the Data Set Index Panel. The quantity is defined with the FLASHOPT parameter DIPOPTFLDS. The fields are available to the CONFIG facility to add them to the display. The FLASHXIT macro XFDFIELD can be used in JSP entry points to read/modify the values.
New Operator Command History Panel
Displays History of Operator Commands Executed and a Table of Saved Operator Commands. The panel is displayed with the primary command OCMDHIST or the ‘/’ character with no parameter. This allows the user to quickly execute frequently used commands.
FLASHOPT CMDBUFR# Parameter Replaced
New Parameter OPERCMD_HISTORY_MAX Added to Replace CMDBUFR#. Users should update FLASHOPT to remove CMDBUFR# and replace with the new OPERCMD_HISTORY_MAX parameter.
New PROCLIB Facility
Displays the current JES and MVS PROCLIB Allocations. Data set information, (name, allocation usage, RECFM, volume, etc.) is displayed for each data set allocated. Browse, Edit, View, and other line commands are available for each data set.
